In June 2005, JRC-IPTS hosted the international conference IST at the service of a changing Europe by 2020: Learning from world views" on behalf of FISTERA network. At this two day event, more than a hundred IST experts,including innovative thinkers, policy decision makers, research managers in industry and socio-economists discussed the current and coming developments that will set the trend for future IST policy and research in Europe in a globalsied society. A book comprising all contributions for FISTERA Final Conference held on 16-17 June 2005 in Seville, Spain has just been published, comprising a summary of the major outcomes, as well as the views of numerous participants. The articles cover a variety of improtant issues like IST Visions and Economic Prospects, Technology Futures, and IST Policies and Strategies around the World.
